Foodie # : > Sandakan Spring Noodles > Metro Hakka House

Just another hot Sunday after my usual church mass,
And I wanted to try out some new random places.

Wandered around in Metrotown with mum in the car,
and decided to try out the Metro Hakka House as their ''Sandakan Spring Noodles'' wordings caught my eyes' attention.
Haven't had spring noodles for a long time already, looking at it surely opens up my appetite door :)

I've ordered myself a bowl of Sandakan Spring Noodles with Century Egg Dumplings for the price of RM 8.
I might have put too much expectation on it.
So when the noodles arrived, I was kinda disappointed with what I am going to have.

The colour of the noodles is not natural as claimed by mum,
It seems like it has a high-level of yellow colouring.
To be honest, it directly cuts off my open appetite.

The noodles was quite harden and the meat seems like it had gone through over-fried situation,
as I find the flour has more proportion than the meat.
It completely demolished my appetite wall when I tasted the Century Egg Dumplings.
The whole inner fillings of the Century Egg just crushed and smashed inside my mouth,
My wild guess is because either the eggs are not fresh, or else they would probably have over-steamed the dumplings.

I'm not criticizing about the shop or the food.
It's just that my odd taste bud doesn't like it.
And the fact that they served food which tasted so much different than the original one I had back in Sandakan.
The whole situation is just plain disappointing. LOL.
Anyway, they certainly have a lot of space to improve in the future :)

Recipe #7 : Durian Ice Cream

Jjang!
I am ready to try on a new recipe today and it's gonna be Durian Ice Cream :)

I've studied and compared a few online recipe just to get the perfect one.
In the end, I found this recipe posted by Missy Wombat in food.com was kinda promising.

I did amend some of the portions and methods according to my own taste bud though :)

Ingredients :
3 table spoons of frozen durian flesh
250ml full cream milk
250ml whipping cream
2 egg yolks
100gm caster sugar

Directions :
1) Thaw completely the frozen durian.
2) Remove seeds and press durian flesh through a nylon sieve to eliminate the fine fibres.
3) Whisk whipping cream for a few minutes.
4) Double boil milk and whipping cream, and stirring it until almost boiling.
5) Whisk egg yolks with sugar until light, stir in ladleful of the hot milk mixture and return to the saucepan.
6) Double boil the complete mixture until thickens a bit, taking care not to let it boil.
7) Cool the mixture and then add the durian pulp a little at a time, stirring it well and to make sure the texture is even.
8) Pour into designated containers and put into freezer.
9) If you are using still-freezing method, stir / whisk 2 or 3 times every four hours of freezing to enhance smoothness.
10) Return to freezer everytime after stirring / whisking until it is firm.
11) It is advisable to store durian ice cream in a freezer container with a well-fitting lid.

I didn't manage to take a lot of photos during the making process as it was a messy situation with durian and cream over my fingers. LOL.

But in the end, after you freeze it in the freezer for 4 hours.
It would look something like this.

I didn't use the still-freezing method as I thought my ice cream has a smooth enough texture.
And since it was already late hours, I was kinda lazy. LOL.

Taste was surprisingly good and creamy. Colour was beautiful as well.
Indeed the recipe was good, just that I put 5 spoons of durian pulp into mine.
The durian flavouring was so over it had covered the original milky taste of the ice cream.
That's why I have reduced it to 3 spoons in my ingredients earlier.

So, if you are in the durian mood.
Why not give this recipe a try?
Until then, see you in my next recipe page :)

Haul # : Purchase from Beauty Buffet

Was chit chatting with my colleague during one fine day in the office.
And that's when she told me about Scentio Milk Plus Series from Thailand.
It's not only a hot cake in Thai, but had also spread til some asian overseas countries.

Our of curiousity, I went and google about this series of skin care.
and our of randomness, I decided to buy few of the products based on the good reviews it have.
Plus the most important thing is I love the whitening function it has. Hehehe.

I've made a few price surveys on the available online shops and I get the cheapest price from Beauty Buffet.
And they provide original and genuine products, so you don't have to worry about getting fake ones.
You can check them out here, below is the facebook link to their page : -

This one is a branch in Malaysia.
I supposed they are some beauty / health shop, could probably be something like Sasa, and was originated from Thailand.

Jjang! The parcel arrived and I was so excited, cannot wait to try the products!
They provide a good service by communicating with their customers via emails, and making sure all procedures are done properly in black and white.

Due to the out-of-stock for the body shower cream, I only manage to get my hand on these items :

1) Scentio Milk Plus Whitening Q10 Facial Foam - RM 19.50
2) Scentio Milk Plus Whitening Body Lotion Q10 - RM 31.50
3) Scentio Milk Plus Whitening Q10 Facial Mask - RM 30.00

The packaging was so cute it look like some milky foodie products which were being sold in supermarkets.
Other than the facial foam, I really love the facial mask which came in a yogurt cup packing.
And the lotion which came in a fresh milk packing.

Surprisingly, the texture of the products are very thick!
The facial foam and body lotion smells like antibiotic to me. HAHAHA!
But the facial foam has such a heavy milky scent when I washed my face I feel so milky. LOL.

Currently out of budget to buy the complete series of it :(
We'll see how is the result of it after a month or so.
But next time I shall try the scrubs and shower cream as well :)

Foodie # : > Japanese Ala-Carte Menu > Zanmai Sushi Suria Sabah

Happy Blessed Birthday to my Soulmate Bridget!!
I didn't know I was supposed to be the secret and surprise guest for today's event.
So just an hour before the dinner, I blew my identity to the birthday girl. LOL.

Law had make a table reservation for three in Zanmai Sushi Suria Sabah today.
And thank goodness for him, I finally got the chance to come and try out the Japanese food here.
Because ever since this restaurant had officially opened, it's always full house!
Never failed to got me curious whether the food here really taste that good or not.

As usual, the place is full house when I arrived.
With the friendly and active working employees who entertained me at the entrance, I found Law and Bridget's table in a split second.

Their menu is almost similar with Sushi Tei, the pricing as well.

I've order myself a Garlic Fried Rice.
I am actually not a fan of this at all, but ever since Oily let me have a taste of it back in Nishiki,
It was actually quite delicious and fragrant.
And after that, I would on and off ask for it, depending on my english mood that is. HAHAHA.

For the Garlic Fried Rice in Zanmai Sushi, it just tasted so-so only for me.

If you knew me well, this is something I cannot missed out in any Japanese Restaurant. HAHAHA.
Salmon Sahimi
But, ever since I had bad experiences with sashimi few months ago, I am extremely picky in places where I will order for Sashimi.
If I'm not confident with the standard of the restaurant, I wont even considering to order at all.

Zanmai Sushi is still consider fine with it, just that the flesh was somewhat so thinly sliced.
And the fish was not that fresh.

The last menu I picked was Agedashi Tofu.
This was also one of Oily's favourite menu.
But then, Zanmai Sushi's version is also a so-so for me.

After dinner, it was time for the presentation of the birthday cake :)
We were so anxious to get the cake out as soon as possible since the shop is closing soon and Bridget seems like hinting Law to pay for the bills already.

Then, all of a sudden every staffs in Zanmai Sushi were shouting when they sing the Birthday Song.
All three of us were shocked we actually jumped from our seats! HAHAHA.
Me and Law were laughing uncontrollably because of the funny presentation and the fact that they were emphasizing the song by shouting.

We lost our laughter when the staff put the ice cream cake down in front of us.
The cake had already partially melted and it actually spoiled the beauty of the cake, geez.
Without further delay, we hurried insert the candle and go through with all the traditional birthday girl procedures. HAHAHA.

Believe it or not, these photos were taken in a rushing manner.
Just because the burning candle will further on assist in melting the ice cream,
we were forced to do everything in one go.

Bad freezer experience :(
I purposely came early to put the cake into Zanmai Sushi's freezer at 1pm today,
just so we can have the cake as a surprise presentation for tonight's event.
But we didn't expected that their freezer is not in a good performance.

Spoiled our mood at the end of the day because the cake melted everywhere and we were forced to cut the cake into little melted pieces and store into smaller container boxes to be brought home. Crapz.

One thing that cheered our hearts is.... Bridget didn't saw that surprise cake coming her way.
So.... we still manage to pull off a little surprise for her!
and super thanks to the sporting and bubbly working staffs of Zanmai Sushi for their super loud live Birthday Song broadcast.
And that concludes plus put a full stop to today's event.
I've made a photo collage of Bridget's birthday for the past 5 years.
Ever since she came back to KK, we celebrated her birthday every year without miss :)
And I still want to continue counting the number of birthday years together with her in the future :)

Haul # : Purchase from Little Lady Boutique

I don't usually buy clothes from online stores.
Cus one, I don't really like to buy stuffs that I cannot see, touch and try.
And two, I'm currently in a super saving mode :)

But as I was browsing my instagram, I spot this simple tee and the thing is I cannot resist everything with the letter "G". Grrr.

Be it clothes, accessories or items, I just love everything with the letter "G".4
Previously, it was because the letter resembles my initial.
But now, it resembles me and Oily's initials. Hahahaha.

Had to lay my hands on it, so I ordered from Little Lady Boutique without much consideration.
You can check out their instagram page here : -
https://instagram.com/littleladieee/
Their clothes are mainly from Taobao I assumed but they have speedy and friendly service.
The owner entertains me a lot, so I would definitely recommend them :)

Item received neat and nicely in their self packaged plastic wrappers.

Jjang! Looked exactly the same with what I saw in the photo.
It's cotton fabric and not rough nor thick, it feels comfortable and fits my body perfectly!
Thank you :)

With the arrival of my new clothes, I am all pumped up for an evening jog.
Today's record was 7.43 minutes per km.
Not fast enough :(

Tried to push myself on the next day and I was 38 seconds earler. HAHAHA!
I am getting myself ready for the upcoming Borneon Run on 26th Sept 2015.
Cannot wait for it!

Foodie # : > Ah Yapp ABC > Taman Foh Sang Road Stalls

OK, I know I am always in Taman Foh Sang because I am always at my grandmother's house during weekends.
But, I seriously have no idea the road stalls are back again in this area for I have not seen it in more than 10 years!

I was stunned and speechless when Bridget told me "let's go drink at your hometown" cus I thought that no one would knew the place even more than I do.
Turns out that I am wrong. HAHAHA.

Only few stalls were set up at the Taman empty road area.
But, there was this famous stall who branched out from Bukit Padang, called Ah Yapp ABC.
Bridget and Law were a huge fan of the ABC and they told me they followed the old uncle all the way from Bukit Padang until here. LOL.
That was when I realized when I went to jog with Oily last week in Bukit Padang, this is the reason why I couldn't find the old uncle there.
Now they have two branches, one at Bukit Padang and another one at Taman Foh Sang.

Famous Ah Yapp Normal ABC at a price of RM4.00 per bowl.
Still taste so good after 20 years!

Our table was given a huge basket of Yao Zha Guai by the stall uncle when Law only ordered for RM2.00.
The uncle told us he is only left with the last few pcs of zha guai, so might as well just gave it all to us.
Such a friendly uncle and yummy zha guai too!
We sat and chatted for an hour until the stalls are closing at 6pm.
It felt so good that the place is finally active back with mini stalls, reminds me very much of my younger days :)

Foodie # : > Roll Up Ice Cream > A*Ga Swing! CKS Menggatal Supermarket

Roll-up ice cream is such a hit nowadays ever since the video taken by a tourist gone viral in social medias.
After that, people are trying to learn the skill and selling it all over the place.

The first one in Kota Kinabalu was The Passionate Ice Cream, which was opened in Kepayan.
According to Triple K Sister - Irean, they first made their appearance during a festive event in KDCA.
But sadly, the feedback that I got in return wasn't a good one.

Few days ago, I found a new stall selling a similar style of ice cream from my colleague.
And it was so near my house, the stall was just right inside CKS Menggatal.
So, I decided to go try it out on one fine Sunday morning.

The name of the stall is call A*Ga Swing! with a baby blue koala logo in front of their machine.
It was just a small stall right after the payment counters of CKS Menggatal.
And it is also the only stall selling roll-up ice cream, so you should be able to spot it easily.

It will costs you RM3.50 per cup for a flavor of choice + a topping of your choice.
Unfortunately, they have limited flavours compared to Passionate Ice Cream.
A*Ga Swing! only provide Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry flavour.
But still, it's just flavoring from Hershey syrup anyway. LOL.
And if you would like to add on some seasonal fruit to your ice cream, you will have to pay extra for it.

I didn't manage to video the whole ice cream making process because she was quite fast!
I was still in the enjoying mode of watching her doing my ice cream, and long before I am aware, she's already in the rolling up part. LOL.

Jjang! This is how my roll-up ice cream look like.
Since I cannot take any chocolate related foodie, so I only ask for non-choco biscuits and toppings.
Time to enjoy my ice cream!

Haul # : Purchase from SK.Trading Co.

Due to my excessive drop hair rate everyday,
I have decided to switch my hair care products to see if it would help.

I am not someone who is interested in hair stuffs,
and I also have zero information on hair brands.
My mum happen to went to this hair stuffs distributor shop which is just nearby our house to lend me a help.

She explained my scalp and hair situation to the boss,
and he at first introduce me to this hair care product from Korea.
The brand name was Nutri Silk.

My first set consists of :

1 bottle - Ultra Volume Shampoo for energizing fine / thinning hair (300ml)
1 travelling pack - Ultra Volume Shampoo for energizing fine / thinning hair (60ml)
1 travelling pack - Extreme Smooth multi-function leave in fluid (17ml)

After finishing the first set, I felt like it treated my scalp better than the normal drug store shampoos.
But yet, nothing has help to stop my excessive falling hair.
It doesn't looked like my hair had become more fluffy and thick though lol.
Because this shampoo is actually helping to control the oil level of the scalp.

So, I decided to use back the same hair care brand again this time.
But, going to try another range of shampoos to see the effect.

The boss introduce me to buy the whole set of hair care which consists of :

1 bottle - Real Moisture smoothing shampoo (300ml)
1 bottle - Smooth Perfect amino masque (300ml)
1 bottle - Extreme Smooth multi-function leave in fluid (100ml)
1 jar - Rich repair nutrition treatment (500ml)

The original price of this set is RM 196.00
But now I am only getting it for RM 148.00 *cha ching*

And it addition of getting the whole set of products, he offered me three choices of free gifts :

1) Hair Straightener
2) Hair Curler
3) Hair Dryer

I was in the middle of dilemma as I was hoping to get all three items haha.
After consideration, I decided to choose the hair curler since my hair is so much flatter nowadays :)
It can come in handy for dinner events too, I just need to learn how to use it myself at home :)

Was very happy with my purchases today.
Especially the hair curler.
I cannot wait to try it on my hair, but at the same time was a bit scared.
Because I have stories about girl friends who burned their face and neck due to the usage of this :P

Will share my experience and show my photos again next time when I have tried curling my hair MYSELF :P
And hopefully I can get a good solution to stop my hair lost before I turn bald :(

Foodie # : > Traditional Hungarian Chimney Cake > Kurtos Spiroll Imago Mall

It has finally arrived here in KK.
The first ever Traditional Hungarian Chimney Cake in town.
They offered 2 days of free Kurtos Spiroll to be given out for the first 100 customers on their official opening.
Too bad it was a working day by then, I couldn't get my hands on it.

Today, out of coincidence with a birthday event at KK Times Square,
I get to drop by with Nieta to fulfill our craving tongues while waiting for the others to arrive ;)

Situated at the middle of the lower ground.
It is very easy to find and spot.

There are a series of Kurtos model displayed just beside of the counter.

And also a simple menu with listed price in front of it.
Which made it easier for you to make your choices to fulfill your craving stomach :)

After ordering and paying for it at the counter, we then move over to the waiting station.
Here, you can see how they make the Kurtos.
It was first being baked in a small rectangular oven with the caramelised cake turning around on a wooden cooking roll.

Then, it will be taken out and sprinkled with your requested topping choice.

Due to migraine issues, I cannot take anything related to chocolates and cheese.
So, I ordered myself a Cinnamon Sugar flavour Kurtos.
The outer layer of crust is slightly sweet and crispy while the inside taste like soft bread.
I love it! :)
and mine costs RM 5.90 for one.
Will definitely come back for other flavours next time :)

Spotted these odd random doors around the Kurtos booth so decided to take some random photos.
Anybody wants a Kurtos? :)

Haul # : Purchase from Wisma Merdeka

And just when I thought there is nothing new I would get for myself already, suddenly my Iphone headphones are broken =.=
Mr. Oily cannot even hear what I was talking on the other end of the line when I was using the headphones.
*Sigh* It's really something very important when you always need that few hours of phone call everyday :(

So I hurried get myself a new one from the shop in Wisma Merdeka.
I found this cute zipper earphones selling at RM 38.00 per set.
It comes in different colors but I chose white in the end, because I still feel it match the best with black. LOL.

The cord can be separated by pulling the zip up and down, it function just like any ordinary zipper :)
And the best part is you can switch the mic on or off according to your preference.

So Dear new headphones, please be good to me :)

Haul # : Purchase from Kim Chu Optical Company

Holaa ;)
It's another busy Sunday I enjoyed talking with Mr. Oily on a bright sunny day.
Instantly makes my mood happy. HAHA.

Few places to drop by today but the most excited thing I have been waiting for a week,
Is to collect my new pair of spectacles.
I have been fixing and making my specs in Kim Chu Optical Company for years.
If I am not mistaken, this should be my third pair of glasses.
But the most terrifying thing behind this new spec is that my short-sightness degree has raised to a whooping -5.50 after four years zzzzzz.

I love my new casing a lot with the pink playboy bunny logo.
First time having such colorful spectacle case :)

The spectacle comes in two shades of colors.
The outer part is in dark blue and the inner part is in light blue.
And there is an "M" lookalike logo at both of the sides.
Which I supposed it resembles the ears of the playboy bunny.

LOL I sereiously don't like my specky image.
And please ignore this piece of after-bath-messy-hair-face of mine. lolol.
But I was advised to wear lesser contact lens because it's actually harming my eyes.
Especially when I am facing the computer for long hours everyday.

So, I am going back to the four-eyed starting from tomorrow.
Contacts are only saved for special occasion :)

Dance # : Performance for Mr.Chew & Mdm.Agnes 30th Wedding Anniversary

Baila Crew's first dance performance of year 2015.
I am back in dancing after resting for a month, and well, after Mr.Oily went back to his studies as well.
We are going to perform for Mr.Chew Weng Chee & Mdm.Agnes' 30th wedding anniversary in Pacific Sutera.

I really love my makeup today <3
I have inconsistent makeup skills all the time, and I am glad it turns out very fine today.
Should spend some time upgrading my makeup skills one day later, and to learn some hairdo skills.

Took a wefie with Shelby, I love her curls and my makeup =)

Plus another more wefie of me and Shelby, she loved her curls too =)

Right after our makeup preparations, off we head over to Pacific Sutera Harbour in Aunty Shiela's car.
Good thing we all fit into her car because by the time we reach Sutera Harbour, the parking lot are already full house and cars have parked until the road side.

Doing last touch up and costume finalization in the toilet.
And of course a quick wefie =)

We did a crew photoshoot with all our props outside the ballroom before our performance.

And another upclose version, which I love this photo the most.
It made us look like some professional broadway dancers.

I get to met this so called ''Old Man'' who used to call to SHAREDA's office when I was still working there previously.
Apparently Mr.Chew is his boss and now it finally summarized why this name sounded so familiar. LOL.

It's SHOW TIME.

First dance we have Bolero + Broadway.
Speaking about going back to the oldies.

Second dance we have Beyonce's songs : Partition + Dance for you.
Tuning into sexy movements and hip hop choreo.

The dance floor was kinda small and situated near to the guests' tables.
At a certain moments, it was hard for us to move because of the limited spacing.
And I did a couple of mistakes and off beats here and there.

Our performance ended quite fast, in under 10 minutes for four songs.

The event owner was very thoughtful they had prepare a dinner menu for our crew at Silk Garden.
Totally good timing because we were all starving.

Another wefie of our crew after being seated inside Silk Garden.

It's odd to have free meals for the crew after dance performance.
Usually we need to starve for the whole night before we get to go somewhere else to have our dinner ourselves.
There were few times we all have to starve until midnight, yes, no dinner but supper.
We were trained to pour all our energy into the performance with empty stomachs.

The restaurant environment is nice and comfortable, just that the waiting of the food is seriously killing.
Especially when you are starving. LOL.
Therefore, it's time for crazy wefies. XD
We were too hungry and almost going out of our minds haha.

We were approached by this super friendly and social pro guy throughout the night.
He kept on greet us and try to talk to us since the beginning of the night, but we were just too busy to reply him. LOL.
Then, he finally got the chance to talk to us after our dinner.

Shelby thought he was the manager of the singers.
Shanice thought he was drunk because he was walking around while holding a huge glass of beer in his hand. LOL.
I thought he was the floor and event manager.
But turns out he is actually a part-time magician who performed tonight as well.
We did not get to see his performance as we are being escorted to the chinese restaurant right after we done with ours.

The guy was kinda smart in his appearance he even took Aunty Shiela's contact number.
Who knows we might have the chance to collaborate in the future?

All of these crew photos were credits to our dance instructor, Aunty Shiela and her husband.
And because of her, we made a success performance once again.
Thank you =)
Lastly, attached herewith is the crew's group photo together with our lovely dance instructor.
