Foodie # : > Matcha Latte and Coffee Latte > One Roof Cafe Luyang Perdana

Too much of April's Fool thingy going on today,
We almost didn't make it out for our high tea session today,
Because we just couldn't trust each other. HAHAHA.

Anyway, in the end,
Me and Lina are the first ones to arrive at the cafe.
And out of the extraordinary,
3 out of the 5 of us are wearing the same color code of clothes!
Believe it or not, we did not plan it at all.

We are so busy laughing off at each other,
On how scared we might fall into each other's April Fool's trap,
Until I forgot to take some photos of the cafe's interior. LOLness.

The cafe is quite small, but it has a very comfortable homey environment,
With white bricks wall as their main interior design.

Location Address : Unit No. R-4, Ground Floor, Jalan Tasik, Luyang Perdana,
88300 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Not only they are selling food and drinks over here,
They are also selling coffee made soaps at affordable prices!
I also found some premium tea leaves on sale too,
And some of the special designs stationary,
Especially those mini note pads and greeting cards.

After looking through their menu,
We decided to try the following food and drinks :

Amy's Order - Cappuccino 80oz
Price - RM 9.50

Bird's Order - One Roof Nasi Lemak
Price - RM 16.00

Bird's Order - Iced Matcha Latte 15oz
Price - RM 13.00

Bird + Amy's Order - Nutty Matcha Slice Cake
Price - RM 14.00

Cindy's Order - Hot Short Matcha Latte 8oz
Price - RM 9.50

Grace's Order - Hot Matcha Earl Grey Latte 13oz
Price - RM 13.50

Lina's Order - Iced Coffee Warm Latte 15oz
Price - RM 15.00

Grace + Lina's Order - One Roof Signature Croissant Scramble Eggs
Price - RM 21.00

All prices are probably GST and service charges included,
Cus there aren't any extra charges being listed on the receipt.

As for the taste of the food,
Overall summary is very good for me.
Although half of them say that the food has no taste.
But I kinda like how it is, just nice for me! LOL.

I am a total Matcha fans,
And I must say that I am very very satisfied with my own drink order,
Which is the Hot Matcha Earl Grey Latte.
I have always loved Earl Grey Tea,
But I have never had it together with Matcha,
Cus... there aren't any cafes here in town that offer such menu.
Now that this cafe offers it....
And my gawd, this combination tasted so good!
I can even drink two cups of it and won't get sick with the taste at all!
Full 5 stars from me with double thumbs up no doubt.

I have also try out one of their signature menu,
which is the Croissant Scramble Eggs.
If they can improve and control on the final textures of the food,
It would be even perfect.
Beside Matcha, I happen to be a Croissant fan as well,
Although the size of this croissant is rather satisfying,
But it is quite soggy and soft by the time it is being served on our table.
And the scramble eggs that they offer is a bit dry.
I myself, would prefer a rather wet scramble eggs on a dry and fresh croissant though.

But overall, it is still acceptable :)
I will still recommend this cafe for a lovely and cozy friends or families hangout place.

Foodie # : > Grilled Pork Chop Set > Zinox Bar & Grill

Happy New Year 2016 to all my family, love ones, friends and my lovely blog readers as well!!
If you have been following my primary blog,
I have just came back from a long holiday.
And today is actually my first day of back-to-work.

Upon reaching the office in the morning...
I am being invited to join a small dinner together with my long-time-no-see colleagues.
Thanks to them, I suddenly get the chance to write my first foodie post in 2016.

We decided to try out The Western Menu in Zinox Bar & Grill.
It's situated at 1st Floor, Block H of Plaza 333 Millenium.

The restaurant is very full tonight! Despite it's a Thursday night.
We were given an outside table after being put on the waiting list for 25 minutes.
One important advice from me : It is very advisable to make a table reservation first via phone call before you come. Or else, you will be put the waiting list by first come first serve basis.
But the waitress who serve me is very kind enough to calm us for waiting outside.
Although I seems like being a little heavy questioning,
She still answers all my questions politely with a smile.
I should have asked for her name, then I can highly recommend her in my blog. HAHA.

For tables situated outdoor, they have an extra service bell being fixed on top of the table lamp.
Which is actually a must for all restaurant, to improve their service.
I really don't like it when I have to wave my hand and call for service over and over again,
but still they didn't notice me at all in the end.

For tables situated indoor, no service bell but the night light is being switched on :)

Front and back page of the menu was taken from Zinox Bar & Grill Facebook page here : https://www.facebook.com/Zinox-Bar-Grill-1661829017393581/timeline

After placing all of our orders,
We were moved to the indoor table, Thank God :)
It was kinda dimmed inside with all the red tanglung lights.
The whole environment looks reddish in colour.

One big projector screen and one TV is provided inside the restaurant.
Not only the place is suitable for dinner,
the owner is also making the place suitable for chill out session with buddies too especially during football seasons.

Our food start to arrive one by one after approximately 10 minutes.
Mine appears to be the last, only arrived after 25 minutes.
Gawd I am already starving at the end of edge. LOL

The first one on the top left of the photo is Bird's grilled chicken chop, which costs RM 15.90.
The second one on the top right belongs to Shirley, which is the crispy chicken chop, costs RM 15.90 too.
The third menu at the bottom left is Lina's grilled lamb chop, which costs RM 19.90.
While the last one on the photo is my grilled pork chop, costs RM 15.90.

All tasted so-so only for me.
I personally think that both the grilled chicken chop and lamb chop are more preferable in taste.
But my marketing supervisor, Bird strongly suggested that the lamb chop tasted the best among all of it.
The crispy chicken chop need a little more improvement in my opinion,
The fried flour layer is too thick and the over fried texture has covered the tenderness of the chicken.
As for my grilled pork chop, the meat is seriously too thick,
Causing the overload harden texture,
My teeth instantly work as a chopper and meat grinder for the whole night.
I bet I have lost at least 1-2 kgs on my cheeks tonight due to the excessive jaw exercise. HAHAHA.

Since it is going to be Bird's birthday tomorrow,
We decided to give her a little celebration in advance.
Due to the ''no-chance-&-no-time'' for preparations,
I just simply grab a muffin and some macaroons from the nearby bakery house while I am on the way back home.
It only looked good inside the photo, but the taste is very very off.
Definitely will not recommend it to anyone at all, sorry.

A series of the birthday girl's photos.

The night will never be complete without a group wefie.
It was a night full of crazy laughter, heavy dinner and light beer,
And together we released all the office stresses and issues.
5kgs of weight directly being drained off from all of our heads tonight!
Thank you once again to Bird who was the sole driver of the night, and Happy Birthday Bird!
May you stay awesome always and be blessed with many returns :)

Foodie # : > Sandakan Spring Noodles > Metro Hakka House

Just another hot Sunday after my usual church mass,
And I wanted to try out some new random places.

Wandered around in Metrotown with mum in the car,
and decided to try out the Metro Hakka House as their ''Sandakan Spring Noodles'' wordings caught my eyes' attention.
Haven't had spring noodles for a long time already, looking at it surely opens up my appetite door :)

I've ordered myself a bowl of Sandakan Spring Noodles with Century Egg Dumplings for the price of RM 8.
I might have put too much expectation on it.
So when the noodles arrived, I was kinda disappointed with what I am going to have.

The colour of the noodles is not natural as claimed by mum,
It seems like it has a high-level of yellow colouring.
To be honest, it directly cuts off my open appetite.

The noodles was quite harden and the meat seems like it had gone through over-fried situation,
as I find the flour has more proportion than the meat.
It completely demolished my appetite wall when I tasted the Century Egg Dumplings.
The whole inner fillings of the Century Egg just crushed and smashed inside my mouth,
My wild guess is because either the eggs are not fresh, or else they would probably have over-steamed the dumplings.

I'm not criticizing about the shop or the food.
It's just that my odd taste bud doesn't like it.
And the fact that they served food which tasted so much different than the original one I had back in Sandakan.
The whole situation is just plain disappointing. LOL.
Anyway, they certainly have a lot of space to improve in the future :)

Foodie # : > Japanese Ala-Carte Menu > Zanmai Sushi Suria Sabah

Happy Blessed Birthday to my Soulmate Bridget!!
I didn't know I was supposed to be the secret and surprise guest for today's event.
So just an hour before the dinner, I blew my identity to the birthday girl. LOL.

Law had make a table reservation for three in Zanmai Sushi Suria Sabah today.
And thank goodness for him, I finally got the chance to come and try out the Japanese food here.
Because ever since this restaurant had officially opened, it's always full house!
Never failed to got me curious whether the food here really taste that good or not.

As usual, the place is full house when I arrived.
With the friendly and active working employees who entertained me at the entrance, I found Law and Bridget's table in a split second.

Their menu is almost similar with Sushi Tei, the pricing as well.

I've order myself a Garlic Fried Rice.
I am actually not a fan of this at all, but ever since Oily let me have a taste of it back in Nishiki,
It was actually quite delicious and fragrant.
And after that, I would on and off ask for it, depending on my english mood that is. HAHAHA.

For the Garlic Fried Rice in Zanmai Sushi, it just tasted so-so only for me.

If you knew me well, this is something I cannot missed out in any Japanese Restaurant. HAHAHA.
Salmon Sahimi
But, ever since I had bad experiences with sashimi few months ago, I am extremely picky in places where I will order for Sashimi.
If I'm not confident with the standard of the restaurant, I wont even considering to order at all.

Zanmai Sushi is still consider fine with it, just that the flesh was somewhat so thinly sliced.
And the fish was not that fresh.

The last menu I picked was Agedashi Tofu.
This was also one of Oily's favourite menu.
But then, Zanmai Sushi's version is also a so-so for me.

After dinner, it was time for the presentation of the birthday cake :)
We were so anxious to get the cake out as soon as possible since the shop is closing soon and Bridget seems like hinting Law to pay for the bills already.

Then, all of a sudden every staffs in Zanmai Sushi were shouting when they sing the Birthday Song.
All three of us were shocked we actually jumped from our seats! HAHAHA.
Me and Law were laughing uncontrollably because of the funny presentation and the fact that they were emphasizing the song by shouting.

We lost our laughter when the staff put the ice cream cake down in front of us.
The cake had already partially melted and it actually spoiled the beauty of the cake, geez.
Without further delay, we hurried insert the candle and go through with all the traditional birthday girl procedures. HAHAHA.

Believe it or not, these photos were taken in a rushing manner.
Just because the burning candle will further on assist in melting the ice cream,
we were forced to do everything in one go.

Bad freezer experience :(
I purposely came early to put the cake into Zanmai Sushi's freezer at 1pm today,
just so we can have the cake as a surprise presentation for tonight's event.
But we didn't expected that their freezer is not in a good performance.

Spoiled our mood at the end of the day because the cake melted everywhere and we were forced to cut the cake into little melted pieces and store into smaller container boxes to be brought home. Crapz.

One thing that cheered our hearts is.... Bridget didn't saw that surprise cake coming her way.
So.... we still manage to pull off a little surprise for her!
and super thanks to the sporting and bubbly working staffs of Zanmai Sushi for their super loud live Birthday Song broadcast.
And that concludes plus put a full stop to today's event.
I've made a photo collage of Bridget's birthday for the past 5 years.
Ever since she came back to KK, we celebrated her birthday every year without miss :)
And I still want to continue counting the number of birthday years together with her in the future :)

Foodie # : > Ah Yapp ABC > Taman Foh Sang Road Stalls

OK, I know I am always in Taman Foh Sang because I am always at my grandmother's house during weekends.
But, I seriously have no idea the road stalls are back again in this area for I have not seen it in more than 10 years!

I was stunned and speechless when Bridget told me "let's go drink at your hometown" cus I thought that no one would knew the place even more than I do.
Turns out that I am wrong. HAHAHA.

Only few stalls were set up at the Taman empty road area.
But, there was this famous stall who branched out from Bukit Padang, called Ah Yapp ABC.
Bridget and Law were a huge fan of the ABC and they told me they followed the old uncle all the way from Bukit Padang until here. LOL.
That was when I realized when I went to jog with Oily last week in Bukit Padang, this is the reason why I couldn't find the old uncle there.
Now they have two branches, one at Bukit Padang and another one at Taman Foh Sang.

Famous Ah Yapp Normal ABC at a price of RM4.00 per bowl.
Still taste so good after 20 years!

Our table was given a huge basket of Yao Zha Guai by the stall uncle when Law only ordered for RM2.00.
The uncle told us he is only left with the last few pcs of zha guai, so might as well just gave it all to us.
Such a friendly uncle and yummy zha guai too!
We sat and chatted for an hour until the stalls are closing at 6pm.
It felt so good that the place is finally active back with mini stalls, reminds me very much of my younger days :)

Foodie # : > Roll Up Ice Cream > A*Ga Swing! CKS Menggatal Supermarket

Roll-up ice cream is such a hit nowadays ever since the video taken by a tourist gone viral in social medias.
After that, people are trying to learn the skill and selling it all over the place.

The first one in Kota Kinabalu was The Passionate Ice Cream, which was opened in Kepayan.
According to Triple K Sister - Irean, they first made their appearance during a festive event in KDCA.
But sadly, the feedback that I got in return wasn't a good one.

Few days ago, I found a new stall selling a similar style of ice cream from my colleague.
And it was so near my house, the stall was just right inside CKS Menggatal.
So, I decided to go try it out on one fine Sunday morning.

The name of the stall is call A*Ga Swing! with a baby blue koala logo in front of their machine.
It was just a small stall right after the payment counters of CKS Menggatal.
And it is also the only stall selling roll-up ice cream, so you should be able to spot it easily.

It will costs you RM3.50 per cup for a flavor of choice + a topping of your choice.
Unfortunately, they have limited flavours compared to Passionate Ice Cream.
A*Ga Swing! only provide Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry flavour.
But still, it's just flavoring from Hershey syrup anyway. LOL.
And if you would like to add on some seasonal fruit to your ice cream, you will have to pay extra for it.

I didn't manage to video the whole ice cream making process because she was quite fast!
I was still in the enjoying mode of watching her doing my ice cream, and long before I am aware, she's already in the rolling up part. LOL.

Jjang! This is how my roll-up ice cream look like.
Since I cannot take any chocolate related foodie, so I only ask for non-choco biscuits and toppings.
Time to enjoy my ice cream!

Foodie # : > Traditional Hungarian Chimney Cake > Kurtos Spiroll Imago Mall

It has finally arrived here in KK.
The first ever Traditional Hungarian Chimney Cake in town.
They offered 2 days of free Kurtos Spiroll to be given out for the first 100 customers on their official opening.
Too bad it was a working day by then, I couldn't get my hands on it.

Today, out of coincidence with a birthday event at KK Times Square,
I get to drop by with Nieta to fulfill our craving tongues while waiting for the others to arrive ;)

Situated at the middle of the lower ground.
It is very easy to find and spot.

There are a series of Kurtos model displayed just beside of the counter.

And also a simple menu with listed price in front of it.
Which made it easier for you to make your choices to fulfill your craving stomach :)

After ordering and paying for it at the counter, we then move over to the waiting station.
Here, you can see how they make the Kurtos.
It was first being baked in a small rectangular oven with the caramelised cake turning around on a wooden cooking roll.

Then, it will be taken out and sprinkled with your requested topping choice.

Due to migraine issues, I cannot take anything related to chocolates and cheese.
So, I ordered myself a Cinnamon Sugar flavour Kurtos.
The outer layer of crust is slightly sweet and crispy while the inside taste like soft bread.
I love it! :)
and mine costs RM 5.90 for one.
Will definitely come back for other flavours next time :)

Spotted these odd random doors around the Kurtos booth so decided to take some random photos.
Anybody wants a Kurtos? :)
